New Delhi, Sept 28: Yogi Adityanath, the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, will inaugurate a chowk that will be named for the Indian nightingale on the birth anniversary of the late singer Lata Mangeskar.

On Wednesday, CM Yogi will dedicate the Lata Mangeshkar Chowk in Ayodhya as a gift to her fans. At the crossing, a 40-foot-long Veena has been placed as a tribute to the legendary singer. It is about 14 tonnes in weight.

An artisan by the name of Ram Sutar spent two months creating the Veena. In Ram Katha Park, there will also be an exhibition of paintings by Lata Mangeskar in conjunction with the official opening. The occasion will feature a video message from Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who was initially scheduled to inaugurate the Chowk.

“Remembering Lata Didi on her birth anniversary. There is so much that I recall…the innumerable interactions in which she would shower so much affection. I am glad that today, a Chowk in Ayodhya will be named after her. It is a fitting tribute to one of the greatest Indian icons,” said PM Modi in a tweet.

Notably, Lata Mangeskar was among the most well-known vocalists in our nation, earning numerous honours like the Bharat Ratna, Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan, and many others.

Her impact on the Hindi music scene can never be matched. On February 6, 2022, she passed away from multiple organ dysfunction syndromes at the age of 92.
