Dhanbad: In a significant development, the Dhanbad MP-MLA Court has ordered the issuance of notices to the investigating officer Niranjan Tiwari and Additional Public Prosecutor (APP) Satyendra Rai in the high-profile Neeraj Singh murder case. The directive came on Thursday following a petition filed by former Jharia MLA Sanjiv Singh.
Allegations Of Fabricated Evidence
Sanjiv Singh, through his advocate Mohammad Javed, alleged that the investigating officer and APP conspired with informant Abhishek Singh to fabricate documents aimed at securing his conviction. The petition claimed that they presented false call detail records (CDR) of Aditya Raj’s mobile phone in both the case diary and the court proceedings. Furthermore, it alleged that on August 13, a forged CDR of Sanjiv Singh’s mobile was also filed, misrepresented as Exhibit 16/4, despite the original certified document showing Aditya Raj was present in Giridih between March 15 and 23, 2017.
Court Proceedings And Next Steps
The special judge, Durgesh Chandra Awasthi, has fixed September 8 as the date for the next hearing. Advocate Javed argued that the prosecution’s role should be to assist the court impartially rather than seeking conviction at any cost. He stressed that in this case, false evidence was allegedly manufactured to frame Sanjiv Singh.
Background Of The Case
On August 27, the court had acquitted Sanjiv Singh and 10 others in the Neeraj Singh murder case due to lack of evidence. The sensational murder, which had shaken Dhanbad politics, has remained a subject of intense scrutiny. With the latest petition, the spotlight is now on the alleged misconduct of the prosecution team.
