Jamshedpur, Jan 6: A CRPF jawan committed suicide by shooting himself on the premises of paramilitary forces’ Arahasa camp at naxal-infested Goelkera in West Singhbhum district.
The deceased jawan Amit Singh (39) shot himself dead by from his AK-47 assault rifleafter firing indiscriminately in the air late last night.
The body of the jawan was shifted to sub-divisional hospital in Chakradharpur on Friday morning and later in the day he was given a gun-salute in his honour at headquarters of CRPF’s 60 battalion in Goelkera in the afternoon. Soon after the body was taken to his native place in Jammu and Kashmir in the evening.
West Singhbhum’s superintendent of police, Ashutosh Shekhar confirmed about the suicidal death of a CRPF jawan at a camp in Goelkera on Thursday night.
“The jawan had some serious family problem which is suspected to be the reason behind his such drastic step. There was also some service-related issue with the deceased. Investigation into the exact cause of the suicide is on, ” said Shekhar while talking to lagatar24.com.
According to police, the deceased jawan who had joined the paramilitary force in the year 2005 had attracted the attention of the fellow jawans by opening indiscriminate firing. A large number of jawans watched Amit Singh who shot him dead.
