Sukma, Nov 8: A CRPF (Central Reserve Police Force) jawan opened fire on his comrades with AK-47 late on Sunday night in Sukma, Chattisgarh. In the incident, 4 soldiers were killed while 3 were injured. The condition of two soldiers is said to be critical. They have been referred to a hospital in Raipur. The accused jawan has been taken into custody after the incident. The exact reason for firing is yet to be revealed.
According to the information, the incident is of 217 Battalion Camp located at village Linganapalli in Konta block. At around 3.15 a.m., CRPF jawan Ritesh Ranjan opened fire on his comrades. Two soldiers died on the spot due to bullet injuries. There is also a camp for the soldiers of the 85th Battalion in this camp. There was a stir late in the night due to firing. Other soldiers rushed to the spot informed the senior officials.
The 5 injured jawans were taken to a hospital in Bhadrachalam, Telangana, about 11 kilometers from the camp. 3 jawans died during treatment.
It is being told that due to mutual enmity or deteriorating mental balance, the accused jawan opened fire. A day earlier also he also had a dispute with his fellow soldiers and was upset for several days.
The deceased jawans include Dhanji and Rajmani Kumar Yadav, residents of Bihar and Rajib Mandal, residents of West Bengal, besides Dharmendra Kumar, another jawan.
