Daltonganj, May 16: Buoyed by the incident-free first phase of polling at 750 booths, the Palamu administration is making more efforts for the second phase of polling to replicate the first phase of peaceful polls.
The second phase of polling, scheduled for May 22, in Palamu involves 848 polling booths for a little over 3,85,000 voters. The polling is due mostly in acute Naxal belts like Naudiha Bazar, Chhatarpur, Nawa Jaipur, Parwa and Paton.
It comprises both the segments of the Chhatarpur assembly constituency Paton and Chhatarpur besides a tangent inroad into the Bishrampur assembly constituency Parwa. Both constituencies are represented by BJP MLAs Pushpa Devi and Ramchandar Chandravanshi.
The presiding officers were given finer tips for the smooth conduct of the polling.
The battery of top officers like DC Shashi Ranjan, SP Chandan Kumar Sinha, DDC Megha Bhardwaj and senior officer Shailesh Kumar Singh and others interacted with the presiding officers.
The crux of the interaction was to ensure all attention and sincerity towards the conduct of polling by what the state election commission has enlisted or prescribed.
Sources said during the first phase, there was a great dominance or visible presence of the top officers in the field and it helped a lot. The administrations had launched two-pronged visibility like DC Shashi Ranjan detouring in one part of the first phase of polling and SP Chandan Kumar Sinha detouring in another part of the polling.
