Ranchi, Aug.13: Children and old men have been asked to watch Independence Day programmes on television live sitting at their homes in the wake of the Corona pandemic this year.

Deputy Commissioner Chhavi Ranjan made this appeal after inspecting a full dress rehearsal at Morabadi ground in the heart of Jharkhand capital, where the main function of the state will be organised and Chief Minister Hemant Soren will unfurl the national flag.

“Keeping Covid-19 protocols in mind, limited persons have been invited. Common people have also not been restricted but a decision has been taken to ensure that the number of viewers and guests should not be more than 3000. Thus I would like to make an appeal to children to watch the Independence Day programme live on their television sets at home. Apart from this, those coming to the programme venue should follow social distancing norms and use masks,” DC Ranjan said, talking to a section of media persons.

As many as 11 platoons of CRPF, CISF, ITBP, JAP-1, JAP-2, Jharkhand Jaguar, JAP-10, Ranchi Police (women), Ranchi Police (men), SSB, and Jharkhand Home Guard (JHG), band parties of JAP-1, JAP-10 and JHG are participating in the parade this year.

After inspecting their full dress rehearsal DC Ranjan in the presence of Senior Superintendent of Police S.K.Jha and other officials did the necessary briefing taking the Independence Day programme. At the time of briefing proper focus was given on respect of Covid-19 protocol besides other security measures.

All officials were asked to reach much before the scheduled time of the programme. Police officials have been asked to ensure proper security while RMC officials were asked to ensure proper cleanliness.

The District administration is expected to come out with a full traffic plan for Independence Day by late evening but it has been decided that heavy vehicles will not be allowed to enter the city throughout the day and vehicular movement towards the main venue of the function will be restricted. For this, some barricading will be put in the city and vehicles coming towards Morabadi ground will be diverted towards arterial roads.
