Ranchi: The delay in filing an FIR in the Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission (JSSC) CGL examination scam has been attributed to technical issues such as slow internet and a malfunctioning UPS. Ranchi SSP had sought clarification from the Namkum Police Station in-charge, Sadar Police Station in-charge, and the JOFs branch sub-inspector regarding the delay.

Namkum Police Station In-charge’s Statement

The Namkum Police Station in-charge stated that the online application for filing the case was received on November 9, 2024, through the CCNS computer operator. A preliminary report (sanha) was registered the same day, and the case was assigned to Sub-Inspector Jaydev Kumar Sarak for investigation. However, on November 29, 2024, the computer operator was asked to explain the delay in presenting the complaint.

The computer operator explained that the delay was caused by issues with the BSNL internet connection and a malfunctioning UPS, which made it difficult to process the online complaint in a timely manner.

Sadar Police Station In-charge’s Statement

The Sadar Police Station in-charge explained that the complaint received at their station mistakenly mentioned Ratu Police Station as the jurisdiction for filing the case. Consequently, the case was registered at Ratu Police Station. The officer added that heavy workload and operational challenges often pose difficulties in the Sadar Police Station area.

The in-charge admitted that if any mistake occurred during duty due to oversight, they sincerely apologize.

JSSC-CGL Exam Details

The JSSC-CGL exams were conducted on September 21 and 22, 2024. During the exam, the government had suspended internet services for two days. After the exams, several candidates alleged large-scale irregularities, but the commission denied the accusations.

Subsequently, a petition was filed in the High Court by Prakash Kumar and others, alleging malpractices in the exams. On December 17, 2024, the High Court directed a stay on the publication of results until further orders. The court stated that the results would not be released until a final decision was made.
