New Delhi, Sept 23: A principal district and sessions court in Delhi granted an application from the Enforcement Directorate (ED) requesting that the money laundering case against Delhi minister Satyendar Jain be transferred to a different judge.
The agency requested that the case be transferred to any other judge in the case that Special Judge Geetanjali Goel is hearing. Principal District and Sessions Judge Vinay Kumar Gupta announced that Special Judge Vikas Dhull will now hear the case.
A detailed order in the matter is awaited.
Notably, the hearing for Satyendar Jain’s bail request is scheduled for Friday at 2:00 PM before Special Judge Vikas Dhull.
Prior to Special Judge Geetanjali Goel’s appearance in the trial court on September 19, the Principal District and Sessions Judge suspended those proceedings and scheduled a hearing for September 30.
In response to the ED’s request for the case to be transferred to a different judge, the court also served notice to Satyendar Jain and the other co-accused in the case.
Satyendar Jain appealed the court’s decision to the Supreme Court, which on Wednesday ordered the chief district and sessions court to quickly determine the agency’s transfer plea by September 22. Satyendar Jain had challenged the court’s decision.
