New Delhi, July 18: In relation to claims of sexual harassment made against him by numerous female wrestlers, Delhi’s Rouse Avenue Court on Tuesday granted interim bail to Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, a BJP MP and outgoing WFI president, for two days. On bonds worth Rs 25,000 apiece, the interim bail was granted.
Brij Bhushan expressed dissatisfaction with the chargesheet being reported word for word and also alleged media trial in court. The court stated that an appropriate application may be moved in response to the accusations.
Vinod Tomar, the WFI assistant secretary who had been placed on suspension, was also given an interim bail. On Thursday, the court will hear the regular bail plea.
Additionally, the court urged journalists to report accurately and refrain from misquoting the judges. “Bad media reporting has consequences and can constitute contempt of court,” the court said.
Before Brij Bhushan appeared before the Rouse Avenue Court, security was stepped up outside of his home. Up to six female wrestlers have accused Brij Bhushan Singh of threatening them and engaging in sexual harassment.
