New Delhi, Sep 1: The G20 Summit, slated to take place on September 9 and 10, is set to be held in the nation’s capital. The Delhi Police’s trainee commandos practised helicopter slithering exercise on Friday as part of their preparations.
In preparation for the G-20 Summit, the second batch of Delhi Police trainee commandos undertook a helicopter slithering exercise at the capital’s Police Academy.
At the Delhi Police Academy in Jharoda Kalan, the first batch of newly hired commandos received training on May 31 using an M-17 helicopter.
Suman Nalwa, PRO, Delhi Police, discussed the security preparations for the major event earlier on Thursday.
“Delhi Police is prepared to stop not just any terrorist threat but also any likely protests. ‘Vikrant’, our logistics van carrying all equipment to deal with any law and order situation, will be deployed. We have equipped PCR vans and logistic vans with chain cutters to deal with protestors. We are fully prepared,” she said.
“All the security situations are very tight, and we are going to conduct this global event very successfully,” she further said.
The state-of-the-art Bharat Mandapam Convention Centre at Pragati Maidan will host the G20 Summit in the nation’s capital from September 9 to 10, over two days.
India took over as G20 Presidency on December 1 of last year.
The 18th G20 summit will take place this year and India will serve the presidency for the first time. The G20’s theme this year is “Vasundhaiva Kutumbakam,” or “One Earth, One Family, One Future.” Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, South Korea, Mexico, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Turkey, US, UK and the European Union are the 19 nations that make up the Group of Twenty (G20).
