New Delhi, Oct 12: A significant incident was prevented in the vicinity of Pragati Maidan in New Delhi when police apprehended two individuals associated with the Arsh Dalla gang. One of them was on the verge of deploying a live hand grenade, while the other had discharged a gunshot at the police before being intercepted.

A police team made up of a circle inspector and the Special Cell intervened during the tense incident, which happened in the early hours of Thursday on the Outer Ring Road close to Pragati Maidan.

One of the suspects opened fire on the police when told to surrender, and the other attempted to use a live hand grenade. Before the situation could worsen, the police team reacted quickly and subdued them.

According to Delhi Police Special Cell authorities, they apprehended two gunmen associated with the Arsh Dalla gang based on information provided by confidential sources.

“The team intercepted the duo on Outer Ring Road and when they were asked to surrender, one Krishan fired one round towards the police team. Suddenly, the second gangster took out one live hand grenade from his bag but before he could pull the safety pin, they were overpowered by the team,” officials said.

“A live hand grenade, a pistol and 5 live cartridges were recovered from their possession,” they added.

The two individuals have been charged with appropriate sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Arms Act. The police are currently conducting further investigations into the case.
