New Delhi: A First Information Report (FIR) has been lodged against AAP MLA Amanatullah Khan, contesting from Okhla, for allegedly violating the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) ahead of the Delhi Assembly Elections. The case, filed at Jamia Nagar police station, is registered under FIR No. 95/25 and includes Sections 223/3/5 of the BNS and Section 126 of the Representation of the People Act.
🔹 FIR Amid Tightened Security for Delhi Elections
• The voting process for all 70 assembly constituencies in Delhi commenced on Wednesday morning at 7 AM and will continue until 6 PM.
• Khan, who is seeking to retain his seat from Okhla, faces legal action amid heightened scrutiny by the Delhi Police and Election Commission officials.
• Security has been intensified across Delhi to ensure a fair election process.
🔹 Over 1,000 MCC Violations Registered in Pre-Poll Crackdown
• Authorities have registered 1,076 cases of MCC violations between January 7 and February 3.
• Nearly 34,250 people have been arrested or detained for violating election-related laws.
• Pre-poll raids led to the seizure of:
• 469 illegal firearms and 513 cartridges, with 491 arrests under the Arms Act.
• 1.1 lakh litres of illicit liquor, resulting in 1,381 bootlegging arrests.
• 196.6 kg of narcotics worth ₹77.9 crore, with 177 arrests.
• ₹11.36 crore in cash and 37.39 kg of silver confiscated.
🔹 Over ₹220 Crore Worth of Illegal Goods Seized
• The Delhi Chief Electoral Office (CEO) reported that law enforcement has seized contraband worth over ₹220 crore, including:
• ₹88 crore worth of drugs.
• ₹81 crore in precious metals.
• ₹40 crore in cash.
• The cVigil app, used for reporting MCC violations, received 7,500 complaints, with 7,467 resolved and 32 still under process.
🔹 Election Timeline & Vigilance Measures
• Delhi Assembly elections are scheduled for February 5, and results will be declared on February 8.
• Security has been strengthened at border checkpoints, and patrolling has been increased to prevent illegal activities during polling.
