New Delhi, July 24: A 31-year-old man with no prior history of travel abroad was diagnosed with monkeypox today in Delhi, marking the city’s first instance of the virus.
The previous three cases of monkeypox in India were discovered in the state of Kerala. The West Delhi resident has been admitted to the hospital.
In May, there were two to three suspicious sample deliveries per week, but now there are two to three per day.
This occurs one day after the World Health Organization (WHO) declared monkeypox an international public health emergency. The WHO announced that more than 16,000 cases and five fatalities have so far been documented from 75 different countries during a media conference on Saturday.
