Deoghar admin to hold camp for transgenders on Sept 22

Deoghar, Sept 19: A special camp is being organized by the Deoghar administration to address different issues of transgenders in the district. This special camp will be held on September 22 at the Old Sadar Hospital campus near the Tower Chowk.

The process of registration of government documents like voter identity cards, Aadhar cards, medical certificates, transgender certificates etc. of all the identified transgenders of the district will be done at the camp. To achieve the objective of the camp all the concerned officers have already been assigned with tasks.

The Civil Surgeon has been instructed to ensure necessary arrangements for issuing medical. The Deputy Election Officer has been instructed to ensure for registering their names in the voter list. Similarly, the DPO UID has been directed to issue Aadhaar cards at the camp site.

Apart from this, the District Social Welfare Officer has been directed to ensure necessary arrangements for issuing  ID cards to transgenders. The arrangement is being also ensured in the camp to provide them with legal documents like affidavits for various purposes.

Talking to Lagatar24.com, District Information and Public Relations Officer Ravi Kumar said that transgenders have been facing different types of problems like fear, shame, sexual perversion, social pressure, depression, and suicidal tendency. “So, by organizing such a camp, the district administration’s intention is to make them psychologically strong to face the social stigma and this is the basic objective of this special camp,” he added.
