Dhanbad, Nov 8: Continuing the crackdown on cybercriminals, Deoghar police have arrested 19 fraudsters and recovered cash over Rs 74,000 from their possession in a 48 hours operation conducted in different police stations areas of the district.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Sumit Prasad deployed at the cyber police station, said that besides arresting the criminals, the special teams have also recovered 29 mobile phones, 47 SIM cards, eight ATM cards, 16 passbooks, and a bike used by them for the crime.
“On the directive of Superintendent of Police (SP) Dhananjaya Kumar Singh special teams were constituted and conducted raids in different villages of four police stations – Devipur, Madhupur, Margomunda and Pathrol. The teams nabbed 11 cybercriminals from their houses on Sunday and recovered 16 mobile phones, 16 passbooks, 28 sim cards, six ATM cards and cash of Rs 48, 000,” said DSP Sumit Prasad.
He also informed that earlier on November 5, cyber police had arrested eight fraudsters from different villages under Mohanpur, Sonaraythadhi police stations of the district. Besides Rs 26,500 cash, special teams also recovered 13 mobile phones, 19 SIM cards, two ATM cards and a bike from them.
“All arrested people were involved in cybercrimes in different districts of Jharkhand and other states. Their interrogation and mobile call details will help in nabbing their associates and the amount they cheated from people,” said the DSP. Search for other members is going on.
