Deoghar, Aug 9: The murder mystery of the Bheem Mahtha has been solved by Deoghar police within 72 hours of the incident.

Two prime accused Mukesh Mahtha (25) and Rajiv Ranjan Yadav alias Ravi (38) have been arrested by the police in this connection. Rajiv Ranjan Yadav was arrested from his native village Madhopur under the Kotwali police station of Munger district in Bihar.

Deoghar SP Subhash Chandra Jatt in a press conference gave the details behind the murder of Bheem Mahtha, a drug peddler and resident of Salona Tand.

Bheem was murdered on Saturday evening (August 6).

According to the police, the reason behind his murder is a land dispute. Deoghar SP said that the deceased had sold his land to one of the accused Rajiv Ranjan alias Ravi. Ravi had already paid Bheem more than Rs 3 lakh but Bheem regularly demanded more money to grant the possession of the land to him. On Saturday morning, Rajiv again paid Rs 7,000 but Bheem did not keep his words.

On the other hand, Mukesh Mahtha, abettor of Rajiv Ranjan, is the cousin of the deceased Bheem. He also had a land dispute with Bheem. So, both of them decided to kill Bheem.

They called Bheem on Saturday evening on the pretext of hanging out and shot his neck. After Bheem fell to the ground, they fired four more rounds of the bullet on his back.

A team led by Deoghar SDPO Pawan Kumar was formed by Deoghar SP for probing the incident. The police have recovered a country-made pistol, two magazines, two bikes and mobile handsets from the accused.
