Deoghar, May 5: After an allegation that the paramedical staff of the labour department demanded money from a patient’s attendant to offer extra medical care came to light, the Deoghar Sadar Hospital administration has initiated preventive measures.

The hospital management has equipped the entire premise with CCTV cameras. 48 cameras have been fixed to keep a vigilance on the campus. The monitor has been fixed in the chamber of deputy superintendent Dr Prabhat Kumar Ranjan.

It is being assumed the purpose of taking such a measure is to keep a close monitoring of the paramedical and other staff activity and interaction with the patient’s attendant. The middlemen roaming within the campus will be enclosed too.

Talking to lagatar24.com, Dr Prabhat Ranjan said, “Deployment of CCTV is a single step in improving the system. We have to go a long way.”

When the video of the staff demanding money from a patient’s attendant came to light, the face of the hospital management got maligned.

However, the viral video disappeared soon. The accused staff were shifted elsewhere and a committee was formed to investigate the matter. But according to sources, the victim later turned hostile.

Meanwhile, only time will tell up to what extent CCTV cameras will save the patients from greedy staff but for the time being, the clash between the irate patients and medicos will be recorded.
