Dhanbad, March 18: A 45-year-old farmer villager identified as Kheeru Mahto was died of lightning IN Chalkari village under Topchachi block around 39 km away from district headquarters on Saturday afternoon.
Topchachi police station officer in charge Jayaram Prasad said that the incident occurred around 3 PM. The victim had gone for his goat herding in a nearby field when all of a sudden lightning struck him amidst drizzling.
The villagers immediately took him to Topchachi Community Health Centre (CHC) where the doctor declared him brought dead. The doctor said the body of the victim had been badly burning from lightning.
Topchachi police also reached the hospital and sent the body to Shahid Nirmal Mahto Medical College Hospital (SNMMCH) Dhanbad for post-mortem.
