Dhanbad admin swings into action for Covid-19 management as cases rise in state

Dhanbad, July 19: In the wake of spreading Covid-19 cases in the state, the Dhanbad district administration has swung into an active mode for managing the situation.

The district administration has prepared the Central Hospital of Bharat Coking Coal Limited (BCCL) for the treatment of Covid-19 patients and set up a control room in Sadar hospital for monitoring the situation.

Dhanbad Deputy Commissioner (DC) held an emergency meeting on Monday evening and took stock of preparation at the Shahid Nirmal Mahto Medical College Hospital (SNMMCH), Divisional Railway Hospital, Sadar hospital, microbiology department of SNMMCH, Disaster Management officers and directed them to get all mechanism ready for combating the infection.

District Integrated Diseases Surveillance Programme (IDSP) cum nodal officer of Sadar hospital Dr Rajkumar Singh said that the chairman of District Disaster Management (DC) has asked BCCL management to set up a Covid-19 treatment ward in its Central Hospital Jagjivan Nagar and arrange manpower (doctors and Para medical staff) for the same.

Dr Rajkumar said as per the order, the control room has been this time set up in Sadar hospital and a roaster of doctors and health staff is being prepared for round-the-clock deputation there. Earlier in 2020-21, the district administration had set up a control room in the circuit house.

“Testing of samples would be conducted at microbiology lab of medical college. At the meeting it was also ordered to increase collecting samples and intensify tests,“ said the nodal officer.

The IDSP nodal officer said that in Dhanbad, so far 7 cases have been reported and all of them are in home isolation under the supervision of the health department.

Deputy Development Commissioner Shashi Prakash Singh, ADM Nandkishor Gupta, Civil Surgeon Dr Shyam Kishor Kant, medical college Superintendent Dr AK Barnbal, nodal officer of Cath Lab, chief medical officer of Dhanbad divisional rail hospital, head of the department microbiology SNMMCH were present at the Covid-19 management meeting.
