Dhanbad, June 28: An infant with a broken hand and bearing injury mark on the neck was found abandoned in an unconscious condition near the reservation counter of the Dhanbad Railway station in the early morning of Wednesday.

Railway Child Line  Manthan and the personnel of  Government Rail Police ( GRP) got the infant admitted to the Divisional Railway Hospital where doctors having seen the condition serious referred him to Shahid Nirmal Mahto Medical College Hospital (SNMMCH).

Railway Child Line coordinator  Nand  Kishore Mahto, who rescued the infant, said that the left hand of the child was broken (plastered) and a sign of a neck injury mark was also found. It seemed there was an attempt to strangulate him before abandoning him.  The Child Welfare Committee (CWC )was also informed about the child.

A paper hawker spotted the child at around 5.30 am.  He informed  the GRP and Railway Child Line Manthan woman volunteer. They got him admitted to the Divisional Railway Hospital.

Coordinator Nand Kishore Mahto said the child looked hardly one and a half years old and was not in a condition to respond to any word before being admitted.

“Condition of the child looked like an attempt was made to kill him before deserting at the railway station premises”.

Dhanbad GRP inspector Pankaj Kumar said that CCTV footages are being screened to identify who and when abandoned the child there.
