Dhanbad, Sept 25: The Dhanbad Press Club felicitated 11 senior retired journalists at its annual general meeting for their outstanding role in Dhanbad journalism and contribution to the profession before and after the creation of a separate Jharkhand state.
Press Club president Ashok Kumar while welcoming recalled their contribution and said that they not only maintained a high tradition of journalism in adverse conditions in the coal belt but also guided the young chaps who entered into the profession.
Senior journalists who were felicitated were Indrajit Singh, Satyabhushan Singh, Ganesh Mishra, Pankaj Kumar, Rajkumar Agrawal Madhu, Brahma Choudhary, Umesh Tiwari, Imtiyaj Ahmed, Sanjay Mishra, Satya Raj and CK Singh.
The Club felicitated them by presenting a Shawl and Tulsi plant. Senior journalist Priyesh Sinha, who conducted the programme made the members aware of the contribution of journalists who were felicitated.
President Ashok Kumar, on the occasion, said that the Press Club had chalked out a massive plan for the welfare of media persons in the coal belt but due to Covid-19 it could not be executed. “However, we will complete that in coming days,” he said.
Senior vice-president Sudhir Sinha proposed a vote of thanks.

On the occasion, besides former founder general secretary Sanjiv Jha, present committee vice presidents -Sharad Pandey, Ajit Singh, Pratik Popat, Navin Rai, general secretary- Gangesh Gunjan, secretaries- Ravikant Jha, Prakash Kumar, Vidut Verma, A Kumar, Chandan Pal, executive members- Mahfuj Alam, Girjesh Paswan, Lakhan Kumar, Gopal Kumar, Surendra Yadav, S Modak and Ashok Pramanik were also present and made the function successful.
