Dhanbad Rail Division sets new record of freight loading in FY 22-23

Dhanbad, Nov 10: The Dhanbad Rail Division of East Central Railway (ECR) zone has set a new record in freight loading among 68 rail divisions in the country. It has registered over 100 million tons of freight loading in merely 221 days of the current financial year 2022-23 so far.

The division touched this milestone (100 million tons of freight loading) in 245 days during the 2021-22 financial year and in 288 days during the 2020-21 financial year.

The official said 100 million tons freight loading of Dhanbad Rail Division is the highest among 58 rail divisions across the country so far in the current financial year. In comparison to Dhanbad Rail Division, the Khurda Road Rail Division (East Coast Railway Zone) registered 93.06 million tons, the Bilaspur Rail Division of South East Central Rail zone 92.98 million tons and the Chakradharpur Rail Division (South Eastern Railway Zone) 85.09 million tons in the same period.

In FY 2021-22, Dhanbad was in the third spot in freight loading during this period. Bilaspur Rail Division on the top position with freight loading of  92.98 million tons, Khurda Road Division with 91.04million tons and Dhanbad Division left in the 3rd spot with 90.24 million tons followed by Chakradharpur Rail Division with86.38 million tons loading.

A senior officer said that till November 8, the Dhanbad division registered 100.27 million tons of freight loading in which coal had the highest contribution of 96.31 million tons followed by cement, clinker, iron and steel, red mud, stone chips, and Fly ash around 4 million tons.
