Dhanbad, March 29: Dhanbad Rail Division of East Central Railway (ECR) zone has set a new record for the fine collection of Rs 5,65420 in 12 hours of a special drive against those without tickets and unauthorized travellers in the mail and express trains.
Senior Divisional Commercial Manager (DCM) of Dhanbad Division Amresh Kumar said that a special checking drive was launched in trains of both routes of division Howrah- New Delhi Grand Chord Line and Central Industrial Coal field (CIC) section on March 28 from 00.00 hours to 22.30 pm.
“The different squads of division comprising of officials, staff and security forces nabbed a total 1200 passengers during checking and collected Rs 5,65420 as fine from them”, said senior DCM Amresh Kumar.
Though the senior official of the division did not officially claim record collection of the fine without checking the paper. Sources in the commercial department said that 12 hours mega checking drive on March 28 was a record for nabbing 1200 passengers travelling without tickets and collection of Rs 5,65420 as a fine from them.
The official said that besides without ticket, passengers were also fined for travelling in a reserved bogey without reservation on express trains.
The mega checking drive was conducted from Pradhankhunta to Manpur station on Howrah- New Delhi Grand Chord Section and from Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Gomoh station to Barkakana – Garhwa Road Station of CIC Section. An official said an awareness campaign was also carried out among passengers to travel legally with proper tickets.
“The special drive would continue in the trains of both sections of the division,” said the official.
