Dhanbad Railway division is number 1 in earning, freight loading in country

Dhanbad, June 2: The Dhanbad Rail Division of East Central Railway (ECR) zone maintaining its supremacy in railway divisions across the country, set a new record in freight loading and earning again in the first two months of the current financial year.

Dhanbad Rail Division Manager (DRM) Kamal Kishore Sinha,  giving this information, said that in the first two months ( April –May) of the 2023-24  financial year, the Division set a new record for freight loading and earning among 58 railway divisions of the Railway Board.

The official said, in April and May months the Dhanbad Division set a record freight of 31.18 million tons of goods which is a 9.13% increase in comparison to the last financial year of 2022-23.

In the 2022-23 financial year, the Dhanbad rail division registered 28.57 million tons in the two months of April and May.

The DRM said besides freight loading, the division also set a record in earnings in the country. In the two months of the current financial year, the division has earned Rs 4143.56 crores from freight loading which is 13.7% more than the last financial year 2022-23  collected in two months April- May.

In the 2022-23 financial year, the Dhanbad railway division had set a new record in freight loading and revenue earning among 58 divisions in the country. The division had achieved a freight loading of 171.32 million tonnes and earned a revenue of Rs 23,006 crore, which is also the highest among all the rail divisions of the country.

At the same time, Vilaspur division and Khurda Rail division got second and third positions respectively, in earnings.
