Dhanbad railway track blast: Trains’ movements restored after 8 hours on Richuguta-Tori line

Dhanbad, Nov 20: Movement of trains on Richuguta- Tori line under Dhanbad Rail Division of  East Central Railway was restored on Saturday morning after a ten and half hours operation. The track was allegedly blown up by Naxals late at night on Friday.

The Public Relation Officer (PRO) of Dhanbad rail division, PK Mishra, said that repairing of the down and up lines of the track was completed at 10.15 am and trains are being run at the speed of 10 km per hour.

“Over Head Electric (OHE) of the up line was repaired at 8.27 am and down line OHE at  8.47 am,” he said.

The official said that the incident occurred at around 12.50 am. Suspected Naxals blew up both up and down lines between Richuguta- Demu stations on Tori- Latehar rail section that falls under Dhanbad rail division.

On receiving the information, a relief vehicle was immediately sent to the spot from Barkakana at 1.40 am. Senior officials of the railway also reached to supervise the railway track repairing work. Following the blast, a light engine also derailed.

Banned organization CPI ( ML) has called four days Jharkhand bandh from Friday in protest against the arrest of  dreaded Maoist Prasant Bose and his wife Sheela Marandi.  This blast is being said to be a repercussion by the banned organization activists.

Four express and passengers trains diverted

The Divisional Railway officer informed that in wake of the blast on Tori- Latehar track, routes of four express and passenger trains were diverted.

18636  Sasaram – Ranchi passenger train would run today through Sone Nagar- Gaya- Koderma , Rajbera, Muri.

08310 Jammu – Tawi Special train  that set out on November 18  from  Jammu – Tawi would come through Gaya- Koderma, Nesubogomoh Rajbera stations.

The route of 03364 Dehri On Sone and Barwadih- Nesubogomoh Special has also been diverted.
