Dhanbad to host 46th Bihar-Jharkhand ENT docs conference from Dec 16-18

Dhanbad, Dec 15: More than a hundred eminent otolaryngologists (ENT doctors) across the country would share their experiences and discuss over advance treatment and challenges in ENT during the three-day 46th  annual conference of the Bihar-Jharkhand chapter of the Otolaryngologists Association of India to be held at Shahid Nirmal Mahto Medical College Hospital (SNMMCH) Dhanbad from December 16 to 18.

The annual conference is being organized in Jharkhand after four years as the Patliputra Medical College Hospital (now SNMMCH) Dhanbad last hosted it in 2019. The conference was not organised in 2020 due to Covid-19.  Last year, it was held at Bhagalpur Medical College Hospital, Bihar.

The organizing committee chairman of the 46th conference Prof (Dr) AK Thakur (head of the department of ENT SNMMCH) said that the conference ‘AOICON 22’ will feature the demonstration of many basic to advance surgeries as well as talks by eminent faculties from across the country. It will be a great platform for sharing knowledge, experience and learning skills.

Dr Thakur went on to say that apart from experience-sharing sessions, a surgery workshop would be also organized during the conference and that would immensely benefit the junior doctors and postgraduate students of Jharkhand and Bihar medical colleges.

Dr Satyendra Sharma of Patna would take over charge of the Bihar- Jharkhand chapter president for the next session from the outgoing president Dr AK Thakur. Dr Thakur was elected the president at the Bhagalpur conference last year.

The eminent national faculty members of the country who will attend the conference are:

  • Prof (Dr) Satish Jain, director and chief consultant, department of ENT at Jain ENT Hospital NIMS University and Narayana Multispecialty Hospital Jaipur (Rajasthan)
  • Prof (Dr) Jankiram, managing director of otorhinolaryngology and skull base surgery of Royal Pearl Hospital Trichy, Tamil Nadu
  • Prof (Dr) Rajesh Vishwakarma, HoD ENT and head neck surgery, Apollo Hospital Ahmedabad
  • Prof (Dr) Amitabh Roy Choudhary, HoD at Vivekanand Institute of Medical Science Kolkata
  • Prof (Dr) Vikas Sinha, Dean/principal ENT, Shantabhaa Medical College, Amreli, Gujarat.

 

Besides them, Dr Nitin Nagarkar-director AIIMS Raipur, Dr Saurabh Varshney-director AIIMS Deoghar and Dr Ranbir Kumar Pandey-HoD ENT Sasaram Medical College have also confirmed their participation.

Retired prof (Dr) AK Jha, Dr AS Srivastava, Dr SN Mehta, Dr Samit Madhup Lal (secretary Bihar-Jharkhand chapter), Dr Ashutosh Kumar (joint organizing secretary), Dr Sanjeev (treasurer) would also attend the conference.
