New Delhi, Sept 29: Digvijaya Singh officially entered the race to be the Congress president on Thursday when he showed up to collect nomination forms.

Shashi Tharoor, who is anticipated to file his papers tomorrow, will compete against Digvijaya Singh.

“Today I have come here to collect my nomination form (for Congress president elections) and will file it tomorrow,” said Congress leader Digvijaya Singh.

Similar to Ashok Gehlot, the 75-year-old former chief minister of Madhya Pradesh has long been a Gandhi family supporter.

The Rajasthan Chief Minister was the front-runner until his supporters openly rebelled against him for the position of Chief Minister, upsetting the Gandhis and other influential figures in Delhi.

The Congress still holds to the belief that Gehlot will submit a nomination for the election. Whether he meets with Sonia Gandhi today will determine that.
