Jamshedpur, Oct 27: Dipanwita Das made history as the first Motor-woman of South Eastern Railway to run Electric Multiple Unit (EMU) train services on October 25.

She added a new feather in the cap of South Eastern Railway’s success. She created a new history in empowering women workers. For the first time in SER, a woman driver drove a local train in this zone.

South Eastern Railway has moved past the glorious past of putting women in the driver’s seat of mail, express and goods trains.

This time the responsibility of the South Eastern Railway’s EMU or local train has been handed over to the female driver.

After achieving successful running of more than 1.10 lakh kilometres of experience as a train driver during her 20 years of relentless and dedicated service, Dipanwita Das has now been qualified as a local train driver.

South Eastern Railway is always trying to empower women employees. The dedicated performance of  Dipanwita Das will indeed inspire girls in the society in coming days.

On October 25 Dipanwita Das took charge of 38806 Midnapur-Howrah EMU Local at 6.20 am from Midnapur Station and in the return direction 38815 Howrah-Midnapur EMU Local at 10.30 am from Howrah station.
