Ranchi: Leader of Opposition Babulal Marandi has strongly condemned the alleged attack on tribal people and the desecration of the sacred Sarna flag during the Sarhul festival celebrations in Pithoria, Ranchi. He warned that such incidents, including life-threatening assaults and caste-based slurs, will not be tolerated.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Marandi stated that the tribal community has historically defended its culture against Mughal invaders and other external forces. He expressed concern that similar mindsets have resurfaced under the current state administration. “Due to the failures of the state government, elements with a Mughal-like mindset are once again attacking our culture,” he wrote.
Marandi criticized the JMM-Congress coalition government for its alleged inaction, stating that no steps have been taken so far against the culprits. He accused the ruling parties of exploiting tribal votes for electoral gains while allegedly succumbing to the control of a particular community post-election.
He urged the tribal community to remain vigilant, warning that the politics of appeasement practiced by the JMM-Congress alliance would continue to suppress the sentiments of the tribal people if left unchecked.
