Patna, April 1: Nitish Kumar, the chief minister of Bihar, claimed on Saturday that some people engaging in “gadbad” (mischief) during Ram Navami celebrations in Sasaram and Bihar Sharif towns was what caused racial tensions. He rejected the BJP’s claim that this was a sign of the state’s poor law and order situation.
In his Saturday media interaction, Kumar also poked fun of Union Home Minister Amit Shah for postponing his trip to Sasaram because of rioting, saying, “I don’t know why he was coming and I don’t understand why he decided not to come”.
“Communal tensions during Ram Navami festivities at Sasaram and Bihar Sharif are disturbing. Such incidents happened for the first time in the area. It’s not natural….We know that some people are indulging in “gadbad” (mischief) and are trying to disrupt communal harmony in the state. We will not allow this to happen,” the chief minister said.
#WATCH | Bihar: It's unfortunate, I've asked officials to take information of those who were involved in these incidents & take appropriate action. It isn't 'natural', definitely, somebody might have done something 'unnatural' here & there: Nitish Kumar on Rama Navami incidents pic.twitter.com/kZj2RIUKqZ

He said that police officers had been ordered to track down criminals and “take stern measures against them.”
According to Nitish Kumar, normalcy has returned to both locations, despite the fact that senior officers have set up camp in the affected regions out of an abundance of caution and security personnel have been stationed nearby.
In relation to the racial unrest that broke out during the Ram Navami celebrations in Sasaram and Bihar Sharif, the state police have so far detained 45 persons. Both towns experienced community flare-ups in which many individuals were hurt and vehicles, homes, and businesses were set on fire. As conflicts that started the previous night flared up again on Friday afternoon in Sasaram, the district administration ordered the application of Section 144.
