BENGALURU: Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister and Congress State President DK Shivakumar has confidently asserted that the exit poll predictions for the Maharashtra Assembly election and Karnataka bypolls will be proven wrong, and Congress will secure victory.

“Exit Polls Will Be Reversed”

Addressing the media from Murudeshwara in Uttara Kannada district on Friday, Shivakumar stated, “We will win for sure. Exit poll predictions will be reversed. I am saying this on record, and the media should highlight it. The results will favor Congress.”

He highlighted his active involvement in Maharashtra’s campaign alongside Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge. “Kharge believes we will form the government with a thin margin. I have seen the ground realities, and everything looks favorable for us,” he added.

Comments on Channapatna and Zameer Ahmad Khan

Responding to exit polls predicting a Congress loss in the Channapatna Assembly segment, Shivakumar expressed optimism, stating, “We have done our duty and are confident of victory.”

When questioned about Minister Zameer Ahmad Khan’s controversial ‘Kaala Kumaraswamy’ comment, Shivakumar admitted it was a mistake. “I have spoken to Zameer and advised him. He apologized, and we’ve moved on,” he said.

Vision for Coastal Karnataka

Discussing his visit to coastal Karnataka, Shivakumar emphasized the region’s untapped potential. “The natural beauty here is comparable to Goa. With a 300-km coastline, Karnataka has immense tourism potential. We need investors and job creation,” he said, adding that a dedicated tourism policy for the coastal region is in the works.
