Ranchi, March 21: Delhi Public School Ranchi organised a fun, interactive as well as informative evening with an astronomy night camp at Kushalpalli Resort for the students of Classes V to VIII with an aim to provide experiential, hands-on learning experience and astronomical prospectus to the young minds.

During the camp, the students witnessed the galaxies, stars and planets and different wonders found in our solar system through a telescope. Students were carried away by seeing the craters of the moon, rings of Saturn and satellites of Jupiter etc. and were overjoyed to see the binary stars. They also learned important information related to the size of the planets, constellation, reasons behind the differences in colours of planets, size of different planets, reasons behind the twinkling of stars and many more.

The students also interacted with the astronomy experts and resolved their queries related to questions like ‘how the universe was formed’, ‘deeper understanding of the universe’, ‘formation of stars’, ‘black holes’, ‘explaining the myth associated with astronomical events’ etc.

The school also organised a similar camp in its campus.

Highlighting the importance of Learning through Educational Trips, Principal, Dr. Ram Singh said, “These trips will improve the critical thinking skills of the students and allows them to witness things from a fresh perspective while trying to learn more about various situations in an environment. Students gain a better perspective of the world around them by going on educational tours as they are brought in direct contact with new situations which prepare them for facing challenges”.
