Bengaluru: A shocking road rage incident involving a Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) Wing Commander has triggered outrage after he was brutally assaulted and his wife, a fellow officer, verbally abused during a confrontation in Bengaluru on April 18.
Wing Commander Aditya Bose and his wife, Squadron Leader Madhumita, were en route to the airport when a biker allegedly blocked their car and began hurling abuses in Kannada after noticing a DRDO sticker on the vehicle.
According to a complaint filed by Squadron Leader Madhumita at the Baiyappanahalli Police Station, the attacker smashed the car window with a stone, used the same object to strike her husband on the head, and shouted, “This is Kannada land. I know you’re from DRDO — just wait and watch.”
The attack left Wing Commander Bose bleeding heavily from the forehead and neck. In an emotional Instagram video, he said, “They abused my wife. When I stepped out, they hit me with a key on my forehead and then a stone. I was shocked… I serve this country and this is how we are treated?”
The video shows him covered in blood, visibly shaken, as he appeals for peace but warns that if the system fails, “I will be forced to retaliate.”
The officer did not initially file a police complaint due to an urgent trip to Kolkata for his father’s surgery, but his wife filed the FIR, after which police arrested the accused. The incident reportedly occurred near Gopalan Mall at around 6:30 AM.
Bose also claimed locals supported the attacker and that his personal belongings, including his phone and keys, were lost during the scuffle. His major concern, he stated, was now his family’s safety.
The Indian Air Force (IAF) has confirmed the incident and assured full support to the officer. Police investigations are ongoing.
