Bhubaneshwar, June 8: Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) successfully conducted the first pre-induction night launch of Agni Prime, a next generation ballistic missile, from Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Island off the coast of Odisha on Wednesday at about 7:30 p.m., according to a DRDO statement on Thursday.
All objectives were successfully demonstrated during the flight test, according to the official statement.
After three productive missile development tests, this was the first pre-induction night launch carried out by the users, proving the accuracy and dependability of the system.

In order to gather flight data covering the whole trajectory of the vehicle, range instrumentation including radar, telemetry, and electro-optical tracking systems were placed at various sites, including two down-range ships, at the terminal point, according to the statement.
The technology was introduced into the Armed Forces after the successful flight test, which was seen by senior officials from DRDO and Strategic Forces Command.
Rajnath Singh, the minister of defence, commended DRDO and the armed forces on the New Generation Ballistic Missile Agni Prime’s success and flawless performance.
