New Delhi: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi launched a sharp attack on Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday, challenging him to drink Yamuna water after his earlier promise to clean the river within five years. Addressing a public rally at Hauz Qazi Chowk, Gandhi took a direct jibe at the former Delhi Chief Minister, stating that if Kejriwal drinks the river water, he would meet him in the hospital soon after.

“Arvind Kejriwal said he would bring a new political system and end corruption. He also promised to clean the Yamuna within five years and take a dip in it. But the river remains dirty. I challenge him to drink its water, and we will meet in the hospital later,” said Rahul Gandhi.

Criticism of AAP’s Core Team

Gandhi further attacked Kejriwal’s leadership, pointing to AAP’s core team of nine leaders, including Manish Sisodia, Atishi, Sanjay Singh, Raghav Chadha, Sandeep Pathak, and Satyendar Jain. He accused them of being disconnected from marginalized communities, questioning their representation of Dalits, OBCs, and Muslims.

“These nine people are Kejriwal’s core team. But tell me, how many of them belong to the 90% (marginalized communities)? None. They form their group, and when riots happen, they disappear,” he remarked.

“Kejriwal and Modi Are the Same”

Drawing a parallel between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Arvind Kejriwal, Rahul Gandhi claimed that while Modi speaks openly, Kejriwal remains silent and absent when needed.

“There is no difference between Kejriwal and Modi. Modi speaks openly, but Kejriwal remains silent and does not show up when required,” he alleged.

“Battle Between Two Ideologies”

Rahul Gandhi framed the Delhi elections as a battle between two opposing ideologies—Congress representing unity and BJP-RSS symbolizing hatred.

“This fight is between two ideologies. One is BJP-RSS, which stands for hatred, and the other is Congress, which stands for unity. Narendra Modi is the Prime Minister today, but the day he steps down, no one will remember him. History only remembers people like Mahatma Gandhi, not Godse,” he added.

Delhi Elections 2025

Delhi goes to polls on February 5, with vote counting scheduled for February 8. The AAP, BJP, and Congress are locked in a three-way contest for control of the national capital.
