Ranchi, Sept 23: The Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee University on Friday commemorated the birth anniversary of poet Ramdhari Singh Dinkar at the PG Hindi department. Speaker on the occasion was Ranchi University’s former Head of Department of Hindi Dr Jung Bahadur Pandey.
VC Dr Tapan Kumar Shandilya, while remembering the national poet Dinkar, quoted Harivansh Rai Bachchan and said that Bachchan believed that Dinkar should be awarded the Gyanpeeth Award four times for his work. The VC further said that whenever they lack positive energy, they should imbibe lines of Dinkar after which he narrated a few lines by the poet.
Meanwhile, keynote speaker, Dr Jung Bahadur discussed the life of Dinkar in a holistic manner and said that Dinkar was synonymous with the symbols of youth, energy and enthusiasm. He further said that among the poets who took Hindi poetry out of the shadows of Chhayavad and brought poems in a happy light, filled it with brightness of life and taught the readers to engage with contemporary struggles, Dinkar’s name is paramount.
DSW Dr Anil Thakur, along with all the teachers and students of the department were present on the occasion.
