Ranchi, Oct 14: Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee University Vice Chancellor Tapan Kumar Shandilya on Friday inspected the university building with student leaders of the All Jharkhand Students Union (AJSU).

During the inspection, the VC took stock of every room and washroom of the university and ordered all the heads of departments present on the spot to make sure that the classrooms and washrooms are cleaned regularly.

During the inspection, several rooms of the university were found to have been kept shut for around six years. The VC made Staff open these rooms, and checked the materials for labs and other requirements kept in these rooms. The VC then instructed related personnel to take care of the matter and to use the products as needed. He further instructed that none of the products should be stored in such a manner.

While seeing the dilapidated conditions of washrooms for both students and staff members, the VC has promised the student union leaders to rectify the conditions within one month.

Abhishek Jha, president of AJSU in DSPMU said that the students’ union has been vocal regarding several such issues since the past several years. He further said that if brought to use, all the closed rooms in the university may be used as classrooms for several students, solving the problems faced by the university currently.

AJSU members along with heads of departments were present on the occasion.
