Dumka, Nov 9: One person died and three others sustained injuries in a violent clash between two groups in Dumarjore village under Ramgarh police station of the district last night.
The deceased has been identified as Jhaksu Sirha (60) who according to the police was having a land dispute with his extended family members (Gotiya) for a long time.
“Both parties had a verbal altercation at around 7 pm on Tuesday which turn violent when Jhaksu Sirha along with others were thrashed and beaten up by the opposite party members with canes and other lethal items,” Rupesh Kumar the officer-in-charge (OC) of Ramgarh police station said.
The OC further said that an FIR in this connection was lodged against one and half dozen accused persons by the wife of the deceased and three of them were arrested so far.
Attempts are on to arrest the rest of the accused persons who have escaped from the village to evade legal recourse.
All three injured persons, however, are being treated at the Phulo Jhano Medical College and Hospital in the district headquarters here and their condition is stated to be stable, the OC said.
