New Delhi, Oct 9: The Election Commission released the dates for the assembly elections in Mizoram, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Telangana on Monday.
Elections will take place in Telangana on November 30, Mizoram on November 7, Chhattisgarh on November 7 and November 17, Madhya Pradesh on November 17, and Rajasthan on November 23.
Vote counting is scheduled to occur on December 3 in all states.
At a press conference held here, Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar revealed the dates for the elections.
Among the five states, Chhattisgarh will have its polling conducted in two phases.
The Model Code of Conduct has been implemented following the declaration of election dates.
The five state elections are significant because they take place months before the Lok Sabha elections in April-May of the following year.
The Congress and BJP are the major political contenders in Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan.
In Telangana, there is anticipated to be a three-way competition involving the incumbent Bharat Rashtra Samithi, Congress, and BJP.
