New Delhi, Feb 6:The Election Commission prolonged the prohibition on roadshows, ‘pad yatras,’ cycling and vehicle rallies, but eased the rules for indoor and outdoor political gatherings for polling on Sunday.

The EC said in a statement that limits on outdoor gatherings, indoor meetings, and rallies will be further lifted, but only if the number of people attending these events is limited to a maximum of 50% of the capacity of indoor halls and 30% of the capacity of open ground.

The maximum number of people allowed to campaign door-to-door, which is now set at 20, will remain unchanged. The ban on campaigning between the hours of 8 p.m. and 8 a.m. will remain in place, according to the EC.

Notably, assembly polls are scheduled in five states of Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Goa, Manipur and Punjab.
