Ranchi, Feb 21: Premises of an engineer, Virendra Ram of the Rural Works Department (RWD) were raided in a money laundering case on Tuesday by ED (Enforcement Directorate). According to the information, raids are underway in Ranchi, Jamsedpur, Patna, Delhi, Siwan, Haryana and other locations.
Earlier, a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) has also been filed in the Jharkhand High Court for his removal from the post of chief engineer in charge of the Rural Development Department.
The sources revealed that Ram was at one of his duplexes at the Vasundhara Estate at about 9 am when the ED sleuths had begun the raid and he is still confined there.
Notably, Veerendra Kumar Ram had come into the limelight in 2019 when a team of the Anti-corruption Bureau (ACB) seized over Rs 2.50 Crore from one of his subordinates. Later, the ED took over the case under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act.
