Jamshedpur, April 5: A 70-year-old man was run over by a goods train in the Tatanagar-Salgajhuri section under suburban Parsudih thana area on Wednesday morning.

The victim identified as Ambika Shah was a resident of Barigora in Parsudih and was going to fetch milk from the adjoining Krishna Nagar area after crossing a railway track when the mishap occurred.

According to an eyewitness account, the elderly man was hit by the goods train from behind, suggesting that he might have missed to see the approaching train from behind.

A member of the bereaved family said that Ambika Shah used to go to bring milk from Krishna Nagar following the same route and at the same time.

The police recovered the body and sent it to MGM medical college mortuary for post-mortem having registered an accidental case.

It may be mentioned here that yesterday a 55-year-old man was run over by a goods train near Tatanagar Loco drop-gate about two kms away from the spot where the elderly man was killed today.
