New Delhi, April 11: Tesla Inc Chief Executive Elon Musk, who was set to join the Twitter board of directors on April 9, has opted not to do so, according to Twitter CEO Parag Agrawal in a tweet on Monday.
Parag wrote, “Elon has decided not to join our board. I sent a brief note to the company, sharing with you all here.”
“Elon’s appointment to the board was to become officially effective 4/9, but Elon shared that same morning that he will no longer be joining the board,” he added.
He further said, “I believe this is for the best. We have and will always value input from our shareholders whether they are on our Board or not. Elon is our biggest shareholder and we will remain open to his input.”

Musk announced on April 4 that he owned a 9.2% interest in Twitter Inc, valued at about $3 billion, making him the microblogging site’s largest stakeholder and causing the stock to surge more than 27%.
Musk’s decision, which was reported in a regulatory filing, came after he tweeted that he was considering creating a new social media platform and questioned Twitter’s commitment to free expression.
He also opened a poll asking Twitter users if they want a long-awaited edit button, which the social media platform has been working on. Agrawal then urged users to “vote with care.”
Musk also proposed modifications to the Twitter Blue premium subscription service on Saturday, including lowering the price, prohibiting advertising, and allowing users to pay in the cryptocurrency dogecoin.
