Mumbai: The Hindi film industry is mourning the loss of legendary actor Dharmendra, who passed away on Monday, November 24. His final rites were performed at Pawan Hans Crematorium in Vile Parle, Mumbai. In a moving tribute, Amitabh Bachchan wrote that another courageous giant has left the field, leaving behind a silence that is impossible to bear. He remembered Dharmendra not only for his powerful on-screen presence but also for his immense heart, humility and purity.
Bachchan described him as a man who brought with him the fragrance of his Punjabi village and stayed true to his roots throughout a spotless, illustrious career. “The fraternity changed… but he did not,” he wrote, emphasising that Dharmendra’s smile, charm and genuine warmth touched everyone around him — qualities rare in the industry.
He added that the air around them now feels empty, a void that will never be filled.
