Deoghar, May 31: Senior citizens and physically incapable passengers are not getting access to escalator services at Jasidih junction as it has not been functional for more than the last twenty-five days.
Talking to Lagatar24.com, station manager of Jasidih junction Ravi Shankar has confirmed the malfunctioning of the escalator installed on platform number one. He said that the escalator broke down after a heavy luggage of a passenger fell on it.
Non-functioning of the escalator and inconvenience faced by passengers, especially those old age and physically weak have been reported to divisional headquarters to the concerned authority. He regretted the inconvenience to passengers.
Talking to Lagatar24.com Nivesh Kumar, the engineer of the concerned department has assured that the service would be restored soon as the higher officials of the division had already initiated the process of sanctioning the required fund.
Nitesh has claimed that due to falling off of a heavy luggage some major parts of the escalator got damaged that might need to be replaced. Replying to a query from Lagatar24.com Nitesh Kumar claimed that maintenance work is done every day for the smooth running of escalators.
Notably, it is a matter of investigation what made a passenger lift a heavy luggage through an escalator when there is a lift facility also side by side.
