Hazaribag, April.19: Former state president of BJP and ex-parliamentarian Yadunath Pandey today surprised all by taking membership in the Hazaribag Bar Association. Pandey who was a teacher at Ranchi University came into the limelight when he led an agitation to get a path for the Ramanavami procession in Hazaribag and became a parliamentarian in the year 1989. He also served as state president of the BJP.
Pandey was given the membership by Association President Rajkumar Raju and Secretary Suman Singh this morning.
Talking to Lagatar24.com, Pandey said he has been in the public domain for a long time. But now taking membership in the bar, he can give legal advice to the needy as well. “This is my new role and I assure you of giving my best,” he added. Pandey said he passed the LLB in 1980 but is taking the membership very late. You all are my seniors and I am your junior, he commented amid laughter.
Singh said they are happy to see Pandey among them. “He is now a part of our family and so it’s a matter of pride for us,” he commented. He said he will apprise Pandey about the problems of the lawyers to get support from him. Raju said he voted for the first time in the 1989 general election for Pandey. “I hope he will work for the benefit of the bar and for lawyers,” he added.
