Mumbai, Nov.25: Former Mumbai police commissioner Param Bir Singh arrived in the city on Thursday after being branded a proclaimed criminal by a Mumbai court.

On arrival, Singh told the media, “I would join the investigation as authorised by the court.”

On Wednesday, the IPS officer who is facing extortion charges in Maharashtra told news stations that he was in Chandigarh.

Singh has not gone to work since May of this year, when he was relieved of his duties as Mumbai police commissioner and accused then-Maharashtra home minister Anil Deshmukh of corruption.

Singh has now been given immunity from arrest by the Supreme Court.

He was transferred after Mumbai police officer Sachin Waze was detained in connection with the discovery of an SUV with explosives outside industrialist Mukesh Ambani’s residence, ‘Antilia,’ and the subsequent suspicious death of businessman Mansukh Hiran.
