MUMBAI/NEW DELHI: The Mahayuti alliance (National Democratic Alliance – NDA) is poised for a resounding victory in the Maharashtra Assembly Elections, according to two exit polls released on Thursday, a day after polling concluded. The predictions indicate a significant lead over the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) coalition.
Exit Poll Projections
Axis My India predicts the NDA winning 178-200 seats in the 288-seat assembly, surpassing the majority mark of 145. The MVA is projected to secure 82-102 seats.
Today’s Chanakya estimates the NDA will bag 175 seats, with the MVA trailing at 100 seats.
The MVA alliance consists of the Congress, Uddhav Thackeray’s faction of the Shiv Sena, and Sharad Pawar’s Nationalist Congress Party (NCP).
Region-Wise Seat Breakdown (Axis My India)
In Konkan, the NDA is projected to win 24 seats, while the MVA is expected to secure 13.
In Marathwada, the NDA could bag 30 seats compared to the MVA’s 15.
Mumbai may see the NDA winning 22 seats, with the MVA gaining 14.
In North Maharashtra, the NDA is likely to dominate with 38 seats, leaving the MVA with only 7.
Vidarbha could give 39 seats to the NDA and 20 to the MVA.
West Maharashtra is expected to have 36 seats for the NDA and 21 for the MVA.
Increased Voter Turnout
The Election Commission reported a 66% voter turnout from electronic voting machines (EVMs), a rise from 61.1% in 2019. The final turnout, including postal ballots, is yet to be announced.
Key turnout highlights:
Kolhapur recorded the highest turnout at 76.63%.
Gadchiroli followed with 75.26%, despite Left-Wing Extremism concerns.
Mumbai Island City recorded the lowest turnout at 52.07%, with suburban districts slightly higher at 55.95%.
