Ramgarh, Dec 6: Chhotelal Karmali, a resident of Hehal village Patratu block of Ramgarh district, along with his family has been socially boycotted. A minor girl from the victim’s family had fled somewhere with her boyfriend in the past. Later, the information was given to the Barkakana OP police station.

Taking prompt action, the police took the young man and the girl into custody and brought them to the Barkakana OP premises. They handed them over to their families after mutual consent.

But the incident has led to many restrictions imposed on the family members of the girl as they are facing a social boycott by the people of their caste and society. They have been banned from fetching water from the government well in the neighbourhood.

The affected family has been facing problems for the last 3 days and said that if justice is not served, they will collectively commit self-immolation.

Barkakana OP in-charge, Mantu Choudhary, on the matter said,” No information related to such a case has come to the OP.  Although we are busy taking action against such people, an effort will be made to convince the people of both sides at the social level.  If the matter settles down, everything will be ok.  Otherwise, appropriate legal action will be taken on this so that the victim’s family can get justice.”

At present, the victim’s family is troubled by the ‘Tughlaqi’ decree of the people of the village. Police and administrative officers are trying to sort out the problem immediately.
