Female pilot injured as trainer aircraft crashes in Maharashtra

Pune, July 25: A 22-year-old female trainee pilot Bhavika Rathod suffered injuries after a single-seater training plane crashed in Maharashtra’s Pune district on Monday, according to the police.

The aircraft experienced a technical issue which led to the mishap in the Kadbanwadi area of the Indapur tehsil.

Around 11:30 a.m., the plane crashed in a wide-open field. The pilot suffered minor wounds and was later taken to a hospital.

The plane had departed from the Baramati airport in Pune and belongs to Carver Flying, a private aviation school in Maharashtra’s Baramati.

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) confirmed the incident saying, “On 25.07.2022, Carver Aviation Cessna 152 aircraft VT-ALI on a solo cross-country flight made a crash landing while 15 nm inbound to Baramati Airfield due to suspected power loss.”
